THE TREETOP TENTS OF NEKAJUI

Luxury Frontiers designed the luxury treetop tents that form part of the accommodation offerings at Nekajui—a Ritz-Carlton Reserve in Costa Rica. Located in a remote corner of the Reserve, these tents invite guests into a private world where nature and luxury intertwine seamlessly. Overlooking a breathtaking bay, the design is driven by the unique location, ensuring that every detail reflects the spirit of the unspoiled environment.

Designed to seamlessly blend with the lush Costa Rican landscape, the luxury treetop tents at Nekajui offer an immersive escape elevated above Peninsula Papagayo. Each of the three two-bedroom suites, spanning 2,324 to 2,795 sq. ft. (216 to 260 sq. m.), is connected by a central lock-off lounge and features plunge pools, outdoor showers, and sweeping ocean views, enhancing the guest experience.

Embodying biophilic design, the tents blur the line between indoor comfort and the wild outdoors. Constructed with breathable canvas and roll-up mesh openings, they invite fresh air, natural sounds, and wildlife encounters, creating an authentic connection with nature.

Sustainability is integral to the design. Positioned along natural contour lines to minimize disruption, the tents are elevated on piles to protect the forest floor, with earth-toned materials blending seamlessly into the surroundings. Prefabricated in South Africa, their lightweight construction reduces on-site waste and preserves the ecosystem. An engineering feat, the design includes one of Luxury Frontiers' longest membrane spans, with a curved central beam uniting the tents, ensuring a minimal footprint while maximizing panoramic views.

“Every line in our design was drawn with the bay in mind; we wanted each space to serve as a window to the expansive ocean vista.”
